PRISMA Festival & Arts Hub Assistant

PRISMA (Pacific Region International Summer Music Association) is seeking an enthusiastic and community-minded Festival & Arts Hub Assistant to join our team this summer.

This position supports both the internationally recognized PRISMA Festival & Academy and the ongoing operations of the new Arts Hub at tiskʷat — a dynamic community cultural space in Powell River.

This is an ideal opportunity for a young person interested in arts administration, event production, music, community engagement, digital media, or cultural tourism.

Position Details

  • Application Deadline: May 19, 2026
  • 8-week contract
  • Start Date: May 25, 2026
  • End Date: July 19, 2026
  • 35 hours/week (280 total hours)
  • $18.25/hour

Please note that some evenings and longer festival days will be required during the PRISMA Festival period (June 15–27) which can offset quieter periods post-festival.

Responsibilities

Festival Support

  • Distribute signage, banners, and promotional materials
  • Assist with concert, rehearsal, and event logistics
  • Support volunteer coordination and guest artist hospitality
  • Assist with sponsor acquisition, recognition, and fulfilment
  • Help prepare venues, signage, equipment, and audience areas
  • Provide assistance and relief in the Student Services department
  • Provide box office, front-of-house and backstage assistance during events
  • Capture photos and short-form content for social media and documentation

Arts Hub Support

  • Assist with day-to-day operations and events at the Arts Hub at tiskʷat
  • Help prepare rooms and event spaces
  • Support community users, audiences, and visiting artists
  • Assist with bookings, communications, and event setup
  • Help maintain clean, organized, welcoming spaces
  • Assist with inventory, organization, and resource allocation

General Duties

  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions
  • Support reporting, surveys, and community engagement initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with PRISMA staff, volunteers, and partners
  • Represent PRISMA professionally and respectfully in all interactions

Skills & Experience

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Organized and dependable
  • Friendly and community-oriented
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Interested in arts, events, or community programming
  • Willing to learn new technical and administrative skills

Experience in customer service, events, social media, music, theatre, or community organizations is an asset, but not required.

A valid drivers license and access to a vehicle is an asset.

Eligibility

This position is funded through the Government of Canada’s Canada Summer Jobs program. Applicants must:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years old at the start of employment
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN)
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person granted refugee status in Canada

International students and temporary residents are not eligible under the program guidelines.
