Oliver de Clercq

French Horn

Oliver de Clercq joined the VSO in 2001 as Principal Horn and has served as Associate Principal Horn since 2021. Oliver completed his Bachelor’s Degree at Boston University with Eric Ruske and James Sommerville, and was a Master’s Student of Jerome Ashby at the Juilliard School before moving to Vancouver. Oliver teaches at the VSO Institute of Music, and has also taught at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute.
In addition to Grammy and Juno Award winning collaborations with the VSO, Oliver has also recorded extensively for Film, Television, Video Games, and Pop Albums. He’s been a featured soloist with the VSO several times, as well as the Boston Pops, Albanian Radio Television Orchestra, Okanagan Symphony, Vancouver Philharmonic, West Coast Symphony, and Boston University Symphony Orchestra. Thanks to the generosity of the Naples Music Club Scholarship Competition and others, Oliver pursued summer education at the Appalachian State University, Aspen Music Festival, Boston University Tanglewood Institute, Chautauqua Institution, Eastern Music Festival, and Florida State University.
Oliver performs on instruments by Alexander, Conn, Paxman, and Schmid.
