Meriko Kubota is the Regional Social Planner for Powell River. She is passionate about driving social purpose and community development. Meriko has over a decade of experience in business strategy, marketing and communications, brand engagement, corporate social responsibility, community investment, sponsorship marketing, and philanthropy.
Prior to her current role, Meriko worked as an independent consultant in organizational development and some of her clients include First Credit Union, PREP Society, ICBC, BC Parks, and Alberta Blue Cross. She also worked for MEC, Mountain Equipment Coop as Director of Sponsorship Marketing and Community Investment, for TELUS as Director of Strategic Partnerships & Community Investment, and for the Vancouver Foundation as Manager of Grants & Special Projects where she most enjoyed funding arts and culture initiatives across BC.
She holds a Graduate Diploma in Social Innovation from the University of Waterloo and a Bachelor of Music in piano from University of British Columbia.
Meriko is also a Board of Director Member of Greenpeace Canada.
She has made Powell River her home since April 2018 with her husband and two young sons.
