Scholarships and Bursaries:
One of the core goals of PRISMA is to be accessible and welcoming to the most talented students regardless of financial means. As a relatively young institution we are still in the process of building the endowment that will allow us to fully realise this goal; however, we do set aside funds every year to assist students who might otherwise be unable to attend. This assistance takes two forms:
1. All students who are accepted into the program in 2017 will receive a ‘half fellowship’, bringing the tuition cost down from $1150 to $575
2. We also award a limited number of scholarships, covering (part of) tuition, tuition and meals, or tuition and full board. Students receiving these scholarships are selected on the basis of financial need, artistic merit, and the necessity of achieving the proper instrumental balance within the Academy orchestra.
The award of the ‘half-fellowship’ is automatic upon acceptance; no application is necessary. However, students who wish to be considered for an additional scholarship should click here to submit an application for financial assistance. Please note that scholarship assistance is not available for conducting students for PRISMA or for the MSO Conducting Master Class.
We suggest you make use of the Rotary Support (see below) or to contact your university for support. Students can also apply for a grant or a donation at their local arts council. Upon request, PRISMA can provide a letter of recommendation.
Using Rotary's worldwide network, the Rotary Clubs of Powell River help music students access financial support from their local Rotary Clubs to attend PRISMA. Rotary strongly urges you to begin this process immediately after submitting your application.
