PRISMA Presents: International Conducting Master Class

International Conducting Master Class with Arthur Arnold and the Moscow Symphony Orchestra

March 15 - 17, 2017 (arrival March 14, departure March 18)


The Conducting Master Class will focus on a variety of repertoire with an emphasis on Russian repertoire. Five participants will be accepted to conduct the Moscow Symphony Orchestra. Each participant will have 40 minutes of podium time per day, 120 minutes in total. Participating conductors are encouraged to record their sessions on video and may use their footage as promotional material. Participants may request uninterrupted sessions with the orchestra, and all participants will review rehearsal videos with Maestro Arnold. All conducting sessions will take place at the Mosfilm Studios.

Application Requirements

Conducting students are requested to upload a recent conducting video (rehearsal and/or concert) to YouTube and submit the link with their application.

In addition to the video, applicants are expected to submit:

  • A list of the work(s) performed and/ or rehearsed on the video and the type of orchestra/ensemble (community/student/workshop/(semi) professional etc.) including date of recording.  Submit the link to your audition video (YouTube links only, make sure the setting of your video is “public” or “unlisted” but not “private”)

  • Current repertoire list, indicating: works conducted (including group and date), works prepared, works assisted and works studied

  • A letter of motivation indicating why you wish to take part in the master class and what you would like to achieve from the program (max 1 page)

Application Procedure & Fees

The application fee is $75 USD.  

Applicants will submit their application via PRISMA's Acceptd page by clicking here and selecting the master class from the "Program Group" menu.

Selection of Participants

Five participants will be selected based on the audition materials provided. Applicants will be notified no later than December 20 with the application results. Selected students may be invited for a Skype interview with Maestro Arnold. Waitlisted applicants will receive a numbered placement on the waitlist for the master class, and all waitlisted applicants are welcome to attend as observers. 



Course fee: $1,995 USD

  • Down payment: $995 USD due by January 3, 2017

  • Final payment of $1,000 USD due no later than February 7

Observer fee: $250 USD

The master class will be given in English. 

Each participant must provide his or her own scores. 

The master class will be confirmed once ten participants have registered. 

Please DO NOT book any non-refundable travel or accommodation arrangements until you receive a confirmation of the master class.

In the unlikely event that PRISMA cancels the master class, all fees paid will be refunded.
